I would seriously reconsider buying an M1 Mac for any sort of 3D work, but especially of course for Revit, since it is not supported on M1 Macs. Most 3D applications (including Revit) either require, or run much better, with dedicated 3D graphics.

My rule of thumb about what to draft and what to model is: If it appears in more than one "view" (a schedule is a view in this case) then model it. If you want to miter 2 beams at a corner, simply select one of the beams and right click on the blue dot on the end. You'll see a command for "Edit Beam/Column Join". Select that.
