Not sure how many people applied, but I can't imagine it was more than a handful. The Army is hurting badly for recruits generally this year.
The CVM offers a four-year program leading to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) degree. Most of my shadowing and volunteer experiences have been in the healthcare field at hospitals and private practices. I haven’t shadowed a veterinarian yet, but I am actively working on it. I've got a couple suggestions. My mom gave me a book a couple years ago called The Horse Doctor Is In by Brent Kelley, DVM. He presents horse health care using stories from his time as an equine vet in Kentucky. Also, one of my all time favorite books is Most of My Patients Are Animals by Robert M. I took bio 1/2 and chem 1/2 at a community college, then o-chem, biochem, and upper division biology courses at a 4-year university. The only class I took online was animal nutrition.

Here is the breakdown for the two. USF. research school. I was accepted to the honors college- so I would graduate with a honors degree in biology- cum laude. less prestigious and ranked lower. Graduates from both schools do well. The larger contingent favors UT. I recommend A&M in your case, since A&M has the only vet school in TX. It also has its own med sch. UT schools are separate and are more established. They rank higher, but A&M is a rapidly rising school. I went to Dal and I loved it. They have farm animals on sight that are used frequently for classes. It's a small town which I preferred. Just a note though about gaining residency.
